Inclusion

The Cary Area Public Library stands with minority communities in support of ending systemic prejudice and injustice and supporting cultural diversity.

We are committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all members of the community, no matter the color of their skin, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, gender identity, or religious beliefs. We stand by the core guiding principle that the Library is for everyone.

We are taking steps to examine how we can be better allies to all marginalized members of society:

  • Continuing to feature works by diverse authors in our marketing campaigns
  • Formed an Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee to further examine ways the Library can support all members of our community
  • Performing a diversity audit of our collections, programs, and services
  • Developing partnerships with local organizations to enrich our understanding of diversity

As the Library is a place for learning and accessing information, we have put together a list of resources for all ages that explore anti-racism.
